Italian Folk Fashion History 

Italian women used to wear colourful fabric costumes which were mainly made out of a waterproof wool called orbace and most of all embroidered skirts. They also used to wear elaborate hats which were full of colourful and decorated fruit and flowers. There were also hats which had a square that used to cover the head completely. Apart from the orbace fabric, wealthy Italian women used to wear rich fabrics such as velvet and silk. For festival events, they used to wear dresses which were bright coloured and had detailed embroidery. 

Italian Folk Fashion nowadays

Dolce and Gabbana 

With their use of decorated head bands, decorated outfits, floral embroidered clothes and use of bright and colourful colours, they are bringing back Italian Folk. Their design is colourful and elaborate. All the jewellery and accessories create an amazing composition and contrast towards the clothes.

Sketch

As I was sketching, I got inspired by the design of the bright, decorated and colourful dresses and also by the decorated floral head bands.
